A soft place went missing
Cats
Fall
One nap. Infinite downward correction.
Landing Conditions
The sofa kept its edge. The sleeper kept descending. Every ordinary sign of impact has failed to report for duty.
The Long Drop
The usual jolt never arrived, so the fall became a place with company, weather, and the mild administrative problem of having no bottom.
- Edge Gives
One shoulder clears the cushion.
- Brain Waits
The emergency zap misses its appointment.
- Floor Leaves
The room continues below its address.
- Others Arrive
Every cat looks equally surprised.
- Nap Continues
Gravity works. Waking does not.
Cats Fall
Still falling. Still technically asleep.
